Passing By

I just found this post as a draft I never published. I don't know how I forgot about this painting, because it's the first one I've made and been so proud of that doesn't contain a figure. I'm so used to painting portraits and to having some sort of a human presence in my work that this is extremely foreign and new to me. I thought I'd get terribly bored of continuously painting trees, but I actually really loved it. I felt like every tree took on its own personality as I painted it. I have to admit that for a while I regretted putting the trees in because the "naked" landscape (boom chicka wowow) was just so beautiful, but I'm so glad I finished the piece because I'm in love with those shadows (GAH).

Love, Marianne
